Using AI for my morning emails

I have been building Improval as a single system to organise my life and improve productivity. Over the years I have tried various methods to keep organised but often ended up with multiple tools before settling on using pen and paper with a version of the Bullet Journal method.

Now I have my own all in one solution and there are advantages of having a single system to record goals, track habits, emotions and manage todos, etc. One example is using Artificial Intelligence through Large Langauge Models (e.g. ChatGPT) to provide Coaching on the day ahead.

For several months now I have been getting an automated email every morning from Improval looks at the plan for the day ahead and reflects on yesterday. It's been really fun and suprising and I wanted to write about it.

The upbeat start of this mornings email

I have previously used systems that send daily summaries of tasks for the day or a calendar summary. I find them relatively useful but after a while invariably switch them off. What is different about these emails is that they vary in style each day. There are often nuggets of Coaching tips. A few days ago the email suggested I "eat the Frog first", which, the Coach elaborated, means do the hardest task first. The emails also end nicely, looking ahead and often with a motivational last phrase.

The endlessly patient AI Coach

Now using Chat GPT 4.0 the emails are even better and the model seems to delight in using and varying formatting, which is fun.

Most days I normally know what I have planned and scheduled for the day ahead so simple informative emails aren't that useful. What I like about these emails is you never quite know what you are going to get and it is like an email from an endlessly patient Coach.

Setting up a Morning Email is simple. First register for Improval if you haven't already then follow the instructions from: https://improval.com/help/morning
