How I use Improval to track my running

(Photo of me in Snowdonia National Park. I look a bit worried as I am not keen on heights. The landscapes there are stunning!)

I love running. I took up running in 2013 shortly after starting FourteenFish, partly because I was conscious that I would be sitting around all day coding and needed to do some form of regular exercise. Never did I think I would be someone who chooses to run even on holiday!

Now I run because I love it and I find it so helpful for a clear mind as well as a healthy body.

I also like to challenge myself once a year by entering a silly long race that I probably won't complete. This year it is the Dragon's Back race, gulp.

I have a Garmin running watch, which I love, and I use a combination of Garmin Connect, Strava and Training Peaks to track the detail of my running and training. However, I also like to track did I simply run on a day.

I have been building Improval as a single system to for my productivity and I wanted to include tracking habits, such as running on this.

This all links to using Improval as a replacement for using the Bullet Journal method and here is how I do it.

Habits

Habits are a way of tracking activities in Improval. Such as daily meditation; running; revision etc. To get to the Habits area click the Habits menu item from the left side navigation menu or visit the Features page and add Habits if you don't already use it.

From here it is easy to add a new Habit and complete the basic details:

You can then record Runs easily from your Dashboard or Today page and see at a glance which days you have been running. As you can see below I haven't been running as much as I would like (I aim for 5 days a week).
